For Christopher Buxton-Smith food has always been a passion. His love for organic cooking stems from growing up in the food districts in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chris has worked at some of the most prestigious restaurants in San Francisco, recently relocating to Orange County to combine his passion for food with his inherent desire to help adolescents heal and live a fulfilling life. Around the culture of Alcoholics Anonymous his whole life, Chris understands the dietary and emotional needs of people in early recovery. His primary focus at Newport Academy will be working with the Clinical Nutritionist and Registered Dietician to create delicious, well balanced meals using only the freshest ingredients available. Chris is an ardent believer that nutrition plays a vital role in recovery and likes to share that vision and passion with the residents of Newport Academy. He also believes that helping people establish a healthy relationship with food is vital for personal well being and that it plays an important aspect in lifelong recovery. Chris uses a simple, organic, and sustainable cuisine whose flavor is rich while remaining nutritionally complete. Trained at the venerable San Francisco City College of Culinary Arts, Chris brings a significant talent and passion to Newport Academy.
